Royal Caribbean – Adventure of the Seas – Cruise.
Our second stop was the Island of St Lucia.
March 2011
In this video we are leaving the port.
- Stopped at the Dragon or Lady slipper in the water Caribbean Sea.
- Saw some after math of Oct Hurricane
- Stopped at Banana Plantation for snack and explanation.
- And the man with the wonderful bird feeders.
You see Cosol at the end of this video arriving with his group.
This is the best Island Tour we have ever been on. We have been on more than a few.
Cosol Tours – we researched and found many good reviews for this tour group. We sent an email and received a prompt response and booked it. We were lucky enough to have a private car for our tour – the mini bus tours were having lots of fun as well.
We left the port at 8:30am and returned at 4:00pm.
For the money and experience and service there is no better tour company than Cosol Tours.
We were well looked after. Breakfast of very good local foods, made by a wonderful lady, Claudia. More than enough for everyone including drivers/guides
Beer/refreshment van was at every major stop and there were many stops. We were all well looked after.
I can not say enough wonderful things about this experience or our driver/tour guide Alex.
This exceeded all our expectations. Other tours could learn much from this wonderful group of individuals.
Many thanks for your time and patience Alex and everyone else involved.

Entry Title: “Caribbean Cruise – Ship Pictures”
Entry:
“The name of my cruise ship was Radiance of the Seas – part of the Royal Caribbean International fleat. It was really nice. I seriously could have spent another month traveling around on that ship. I’ve never felt so pampered – the cruise staff was amazing. They took such good care of me and the food was incredible. There was also so much to do on the cruise ship that I never even got to. One of the best vacations I have ever had!! We had an assigned dinner time and table every night, which was great because I had the nicest people at my table. A couple from Tennessee, one from Washington DC (originally from China), one from Philadelphia, a couple from Africa and another single gal – her friend backed out on her at the last minute. We all looked forward to seeing each other every night to talk about what excursions we had all done during the day and and enjoy our wonderful meals together. For a solo traveler – I never felt alone the whole trip.”

“Royal Caribbean” “Freedom of the seas” cruise line ship
Founded by three Norwegian shipping companies in 1969 as Royal Caribbean Cruise Line, this company is one of two affiliates of Royal caribbean cruises, the second-largest cruise operator in the world. The line’s first newbuild, Song of Norway, entered service in 1970, and today, RCI operates a fleet of modern super- and megaliners including the largest passenger ship afloat, the Freedom of the Seas. Royal Caribbean’s signature Viking Crown Lounge is a familiar sight in almost all parts of the world, and the company has a strong presence not only in the Caribbean, but also in Europe, Alaska, and other “exotic” destinations. The company’s Voyager class and Radiance class ships are in a league all their own and as a result, Royal Caribbean consistently wins honors as the best mass-market cruise line. The new Freedom class ships will be the largest cruise ships ever.

he first human inhabitants of the Virgin Islands were the Arawak Indians. The Arawaks were descendants of coastal Indians from what is now Venezuela and Guyana who were forced out of that area by more aggressive tribes. They island hopped up the Antillean chain until they reached the Virgin Islands sometime around 300 AD. The Arawaks lived peacefully here, fishing and farming, until the fierce and cannibalistic Carib Indians moved into the area about 100 years before the arrival of Columbus.
Christopher Columbus “discovered” the Virgin Islands on his second voyage to the Caribbean in 1493. Because the islands were sited around the time of the feast of St. Ursula, he named them “Once Mil Virgins” after the eleven thousand virgins that were martyred with St. Ursula. Columbus was a devout Christian, and some say a religious zealot who was obsessed with the idea of converting what he thought was Asia to Christianity. But Columbus received wealth and status also. The Spanish crown granted him the titles of admiral of the Ocean Sea, Governor and Viceroy of the Indies, and Captain General. As such he had control over trade in the West Indies. He landed on St. Croix and provisioned for his trip on to Hispaniola. St. Croix would become a provisioning station for Spanish ships from then on Magen’s Bay, St. Thomas.
The Arawaks were first to live on the island and named it “Svalugia” or “The land of salt”. Since those times, the name changed, and the island changed hands often times: in their battle over the West Indies, French, English, Dutch, Danish, Spanish and Portugues “Conquistadores” spent more or less time governing and fighting over St Martin. The name of the island is said to be given by Christopher Columbus when he spotted the land on November 11, the feast of St. Martin of Tours, who lived from 330 to 397 as a bishop and missionary in France. He was, and still is, one of the most popular Saints in Western Europe up to today. However, it has never been proven that it was Columbus to name the island. Other sources say that is was for an European settler by the name of St. Martin, who lived there in the late 16th century. Today, the island is called “Sint Maarten” in Dutch spelling, and “St Martin” in French, Spanish, Italian, and English spelling.

MTW-DVD-103 – Tour Royal Caribbean’s gigantic cruise ship, Voyager Of The Seas, is a technical wonder of modern times and also the largest ocean-going cruise ship in the world: a floating hotel that accommodates 5,000 passengers.
The pulsating heart of the ship is the 120 metre long Royal Promenade, a replica of Londons Burlington Arcade, which boasts a splendid variety of shops and on decks 11 and 12 the popular Fitness Centre is the largest on the seven seas.
Particularly fascinating is the successful integration of three restaurants on three decks, an idea copied from the interior of the Paris Opera House. But the most unexpected attraction is an Ice Rink that is also used for International Ice Revues. And the enormous atrium with all of its glittering structures of chrome and glass is like a futuristic work of art.
Theres even a casino which features Black Jack, roulette, dice, video poker and one-armed bandits and where those who are really lucky may even win back the cost of their holiday!
A Sunday afternoon cruise on the river was never like this!
You can purchase this film on DVD in an attractive souvenir case at www.travelvideostore.com, seach product ID MTW-DVD-103 or for Modern Times Wonders to purchase other episodes from this series.
