On royal caribbean cruises do we have to sit with strangers for dinner?

On our one we sat with strangers for breakfast (but I understand that you can request to sit by yourself if you want) and sat by ourselves for dinner. But it was the same people every morning and it was actually kind of nice to meet new people.

There are two types of seating on Royal Caribbean. If you chose early or late sitting, they will assign you to the same table with the same table mates every night. (You can speak with the dining room staff when you board to request a table of just your family.) If you choose anytime dining, you can make reservations for whatever time you want and sit with anyone you choose (or alone.)

You can request a small table with just you and the people you’re traveling with, or a large table with other people. In my opinion dining with strangers and meeting new people and making new friends is the best part.

Some ship classes have premium dining tables for 2 that charge a fee. There is also specialty dining, the buffet or room service
