What type of power sockets are on the Island Princess Cruise ship?

Posted by admin on February 25th, 2011 and filed under princess cruise | 1 Comment »

Some cruise ships have English sockets, some American and some have both. Just trying to figure out what type of adapters I should take with me.

110 (American) and 220 (European) – not UK.

Entertainment and Food charges on-board Golden Princess Cruise-liner?

Posted by admin on February 11th, 2011 and filed under princess cruise | 3 Comments »

I am trying to plan my Honeymoon on-board the princess cruise Liner called "Golden Princes" in November 2010. I am trying to figure out if the Entertainment and the Food is included in the $2,595 per person rate. Can anyone help me out with this? Also, are there any fees associated with cruising? I have never cruised before. Thank you!

I have cruised 10 times, all with Princess and have been on the Golden 3 times. So, all the entertainment and regular food is all included in the price of the cruise ticket.
Here is what you pay extra for:
All alcoholic drinks
All sodas
anything you buy on the ship(they have stores of all kinds, plus if you want art work too)
Spa treatments( a massage will cost you at least $75)
tips, usually $10 a day per person(this is charged to your credit card, so no need for cash)

gambling
specialty restaurants( if I remember correct, the Golden has either 2 or 3 specialty restaurants), but you do not need to go to these. They cost between $15 to $25 extra per person.
The chefs table, which costs $75 per person, but is one of the best dinners I have EVER had. Of course this is something very special that you have to sign up for as soon as you board the ship on day one. It is not a must do at all. I just happen to mention it because I love it.
Shore excursion are all extra, but again you can partake in these or not, it’s up to you.
Bottom line is my husband and I usually do do shore excursions, sometimes a spa treatment and about 1 or 2 drinks a day, so we usually end up with about $1,200 extra, sometimes more, total.

What was the male dancer’s full name on the Dawn Princess Cruise 8/29/07-9/8/07? How can I contact him?

His first name is Philip. I don’t know what his last name is. On this cruise, he worked with Jennifer Breed, Alyer Evan, Kati Pryce, and Brandon Riley. He was one of the younger performers.

i would try the cruise line (princess cruises) and see if they could get a message to this person on their ship.

Would you choose the Carnival Conquest, Rhapsody of the Seas, or the Grand Princess cruise ship?

Posted by admin on February 3rd, 2011 and filed under princess cruise | 6 Comments »

I am currently planning a cruise, and have narrowed my choices to the above three ships. I would like information on what activites there are for teens. I would like information on what activites and public facilities there are on the ships. Please give past accounts of cruise vacations and/or any information you have about these ships!

We have been on the Rhaposody and the Conquest with a pre-teen and a teen.

Overall, the Rhaposody is not in as good shape as the Conquest.

The plumbing on the Rhaposody is in bad shape and most of the public restrooms were stopped up during our cruise.

One of the cabin stewards was so bad, that I refused to tip her. I have never failed to tip a cruise service person is 18-years of cruising.

The ice cream machines were constantly breaking down and the bar service to get sodas was extremely poor.

The Rhaposody does have rock climbing. But the course is at the back of the ship and it is very windy. My girls only did it once.

My girls loved the Conquest. They danced at the teen disco, enjoyed the pool and running around on the ship.

The girls LOVE the 24-hour a day pizzeria on the Conquest.

Recommendation on cruising with teens. Get a set of the 2-way radios to keep in touch while you are on-board ship.

If you chose the Conquest, get the Soda Fountain cards. With teens, they pay for themselves within day 2 of the trip.

The only downside to the Conquest is the itinerary. You are out to sea for Monday and Tuesday. The kids start getting bored on Tuesday. Then you hit Jamacia, Grand Cayman and Cozumel the next three days and last day you are out to sea.

From a motion standpoint, the Rhaposody was much rougher than the Conquest.

We won’t take the Rhaposody again but we are going to take the Conquest again.

what size table is best for a couple on a princess cruise for traditional dining?

Posted by admin on February 3rd, 2011 and filed under princess cruise | 6 Comments »

we are going on a cruise to the carribean in october on honeymoon, we have chosen traditional dining at 8.15pm and have been asked what size of table we would like 4,6 or 8? any suggestions? whats best? :0

You will be on your honeymoon and you will want to sit and talk at dinner about each other and how much you are enjoying. So get a table for two and enjoy the company of each other at dinner. You will have plenty of opportunities to meet other people and have conversations and fun with them in other places and times, like on tours off the ship, in the disco and lounges, around the pools and hot tubs, and all around the ship. Make dinner your private personal time together. That’s my suggestion and what I would do on my honeymoon.

Baring a table for 2, get a table for 4. The fewer you have the fewer personalities you’ll have to deal with. A larger table could very well have kids at it and they can present a whole set of problems with parents dealing with them. The larger the table the more people you’ll have to wait on before the waiter starts taking your dinner order.

We will be arriving in Huatulco on a Princess Cruise and want to go to a beach. Any suggestions?

There are 6 of us in the group, including 3 1/2 year old twins and 80 year old grandparents. Are there public beaches or is there a way to use hotel beaches (example: have lunch there)? How do we get from the cruise ship to the beach?

Try posting this question on cruisecritic.com. Lots of veteran cruisers would love to share their experiences with you.

How is the teen club in the golden princess cruise?

Posted by admin on December 31st, 2010 and filed under princess cruise | 3 Comments »

im going on a cruise on the golden princess and wanna know if the teen club is fun or really stupid.

Hey, I haven’t been on the Golden Princess, but I have been on a princess cruise a year ago. When I went they didn’t force you to do anything like the other responder said. I only went to the teen club like 3 times or something, because there were so many other things I wanted to do. At the teen place they have different games (air hockey, fooseball, the best game systems out there, and a bunch of other stuff), music (new stuff, don’t worry). Everything on Princess is kind of free, they don’t force you to do anything. And if you don’t like the teen club – there are a TON of other stuff to do!!! There are more pools then you want to count, putting course, golf symulator, entertainment (broadway, comedians, musicians, magicians….), parties every night… Basically don’t worry about it, you will have fun, unless you go with the ultimate purpose of being bored. Hope you have a great time.

Princess Cruise Lines or Carnival Cruise Lines?

Posted by admin on December 31st, 2010 and filed under princess cruise | 5 Comments »

My husband and I are planning on going on a cruise in the next couple of months. What cruise line is better (we are going to Mexico)… Carnival Splendor or Sapphire Princess?

Thank you.

First up, both are owned by Carnival. But Princess is a more upscale line. I would sail either line, but at the same price point I’d definitely go Princess.

Good luck!

What is the difference between Carnival and Princess Cruise Line?

Posted by admin on December 17th, 2010 and filed under princess cruise | 2 Comments »

Looking to take an Alaskan Cruise in July of 2010 and I am comparing prices and Carnival is alot cheaper alomost by $1000.00. Just wondering why??

Princess is supposedly a slightly better cruise, though there’s nothing wrong with Carnival, especially to Alaska.

You can compare what past cruisers thought of their cruises on specific ships by going to CruiseCritic.com, clicking on "Reviews", then reading the "Member Reviews". Lots more great info if you click on "Boards". If you click on "Cruise Styles" you’ll find the different lines and ships discussed in terms of various demographics, e.g. "Romantic", "Family", etc.
