Tomorrow I’m leaving on a princess cruise with my family. Since I know cabins generally have only a couple power outlets per cabin and I need more for my camera, laptop, phone, etc and my little brothers DS game, would it be a wise choice to bring it or will it get confiscated? I need to know soon!
yes you can ,it comes in very handed
Going on a cruise and need to know what plug adaptors we need for hairdryers, straightners etc?
Assuming you are from UK you ned a travel adaptor to convert 3 pin UK to 2 pin USA. Available from any travel shop or eBay (much cheaper).
Don’t leave it until you are at the airport, they know you are then desperate and have doubled the price!
we are going on cruise in october to the carribean for our anniversary, we have been given the choice of anytime dining or traditional dining at 6.15 or 8.15. which is best? will we miss shows if we go for the late dinner how long does it usually take to eat.
First, you will NOT miss any shows because of dinner unless you just sit around and do not pay attention. Cruise ships typically run all shows twice each evening. Once for late seating (8:15 PM) people before dinner AND then again for early seating people (6:00 PM) after dinner. People who do the anytime dining can go to whichever show is most convenient for them.
So there are really three things to consider; what time you you want and normally eat dinner, do you prefer to go to the show before dinner or after and will you be too tired from a day of activities to go to a show that starts at 9:00 PM. The third thing is when you select a traditional seating you will have the same table and wait staff each evening for dinner; and you can ask for a table for two if you want it. If you select the anytime dining you go to the main dining room and get assigned to a table when one is available (yes you may have to wait if other go at the same times) and you probably will not get the same wait staff each evening. You can request a table for two with anytime and sometimes you can get the same wait staff if you ask. But it’s not assured.
Normally the dinner meal service takes about 45 minutes to an hour; more if you are at a large table of 8 to 10 people. You will be offered a 5 course meal and coffee afterward so you can eat leisurely, OR, you can tell the waiter that you want quick service as you have a show to make or whatever and they will serve you faster. And remember, if you want on any day you can skip the main dining room and just go to the buffet for dinner. Most ships will have the dinner menu for the main dining room posted outside the dining room starting about noon. So you can go see what will be served and decide whether you want the buffet or main dining room.
The only down-side to traditional dining is when there is a scheduling conflict. Can the ship prevent you from going to an Anytime Dining restaurant on those nights?
No one does any kind of check when entering anytime dining. They are in different dining rooms with exactly the same menu.

How is the star princess cruise line for teens? thanks
I cruised on the Star Princess in January (a couple months before the fire) It is an awesome ship and an Awesome cruise! (my sister got married on-board) As for teens… they’re an awkward age for cruises because they aren’t old enough to enjoy the adult entertainment, but are really too old for the kid stuff… that being said, the Star Princess had lots of live entertainment (music) for all ages, multiple swimming pools, etc… so it really depends on what your teen is looking for… the boat is big enough to allow them some freedom and small enough so that you don’t have to freak out if you don’t know exactly where they are every minute… I recommend it…
Me and my fiancee are 20 years old and will not be married for another year. He is currently in Iraq and comes back after 15 months in February. We are trying to plan a cruise but we need someone to be willing to "connect" their stateroom with ours so we can go. We are very mature and responsible. We are trying to achieve a romantic get away. If anyone is willing to do this I would greatly appreciate it. We would not be any hassle and you would never even have to meet us if you did not want. I would greatly appreciate this. Thanks!
Ok, here’s what you need to do. If you are already booked, go to cruisecritic.com and click on boards. Joining is free. Click on Roll Calls, find your cruise line, then your ship, then your sail date. You can then get in touch with other people going on your same cruise. You can then ask your question about the adjoining staterooms. I hope this helps and Bon Voyage!!!
Going on a Princess land cruise. Have been told to pack two suitcases – one for land travel and one for the ocean cruise. I don’t really want to take more than one suitcase so is this necessary?
Not necessary to take separate luggage. Just pack as you normally would and be sure to carry your medication, etc. in a carry-on. Your luggage will follow you whereever you go. Have a great time!!
Is it better to go on the cruise ships or hire a taxi and go on your own adventure
Alaska is one cruise where you can save lots of money by going on excursion on your own. Just be sure you go to cruisecritic.com to get the low downs of different excursion companies. A must do in Skagway is the white pass railroad. Very scenic and great for all ages. For the adventuresome types, think about mountain point snorkeling( I would book this one through the ship). Whale watching is great in Alaska. There is a company named Harv and Marv that get fantastic reviews for this.
The cruise date is July 24. Orbitz claims the rooms are interchangeable but the window room costs 100.00 more which I paid in advance. What recourse do I have to correct this situation?
Kick some Orbitz butt.
Some cruise ships have English sockets, some American and some have both. Just trying to figure out what type of adapters I should take with me.
110 (American) and 220 (European) – not UK.
