Lisa and Rick Boyd on vacation traveling on the Royal Caribbean Grandeur of the Seas Cruise Ship out of Ft. Lauderdale. The trip included stops in the ports of George Town, Grand Cayman and Cozumel, Mexico and lasted 5 nights. Cruises offer the most bang for your vacation buck. The only drawback is the food is too plentiful and too good. You may gain a few extra pounds by the end of your trip. The entertainment was top notch! Excellent for family reunions.
We used our American Express Miles to pay for this Island Cruise Escape. Thank you Royal caribbean cruises, American Express Vacations and Delta Air Lines. The service from all of you was above and beyond. You made our holiday!

This cruise, January 2-13, 2012, was the 29th year of JazzSea cruises (www.jazzsea.com) and the video illustrates some of the many things to do on the cruises. It features some of the workshops where you can bring your own instruments or sing along including Tim Allen’s Banjo’s Aweigh, Dick Williams’s JazzSea Jammers, and Karla West’s Jam & Sing-Alongs. And, of course there are many other fun things to do as shown in this video, including but not limited to listening and/or dancing to the dixieland bands, and participating in the ship’s shore excursions as illustrated by a Barbados catamaran sail & snorkel with hawksbill turtles. The next JazzSea cruise will be January 4-18, 2013, from Ft Lauderdale to Curacao and back with the Climax Jazz Band, the Grand Dominion Jazz Band, the Bob Schultz Jazz Band, and the Buck Creek Jazz Band. would like to spend a week on land in the caribbean before starting a cruise for another week
For the major cruise lines, other than the US ports, you have your choice of San Juan, PR, Colon, Panama, Cartagena, Columbia, at least for Royal Caribbean.
The other cruise lines do have a few ships that start in San Juan, PR, and one cruise line did start in Barbados, but I am not sure if that itinerary is available anymore.
And some of the more esoteric cruise lines do start in other locations.
