Royal Caribbean’s Voyager of the Seas

Posted by admin on April 15th, 2011 and filed under caribbean cruises | 25 Comments »

MTW-DVD-103 – Tour Royal Caribbean’s gigantic cruise ship, Voyager Of The Seas, is a technical wonder of modern times and also the largest ocean-going cruise ship in the world: a floating hotel that accommodates 5,000 passengers.

The pulsating heart of the ship is the 120 metre long Royal Promenade, a replica of Londons Burlington Arcade, which boasts a splendid variety of shops and on decks 11 and 12 the popular Fitness Centre is the largest on the seven seas.

Particularly fascinating is the successful integration of three restaurants on three decks, an idea copied from the interior of the Paris Opera House. But the most unexpected attraction is an Ice Rink that is also used for International Ice Revues. And the enormous atrium with all of its glittering structures of chrome and glass is like a futuristic work of art.

Theres even a casino which features Black Jack, roulette, dice, video poker and one-armed bandits and where those who are really lucky may even win back the cost of their holiday!

A Sunday afternoon cruise on the river was never like this!

You can purchase this film on DVD in an attractive souvenir case at www.travelvideostore.com, seach product ID MTW-DVD-103 or for Modern Times Wonders to purchase other episodes from this series.

what time is best for eating on a princess cruise?

Posted by admin on April 9th, 2011 and filed under princess cruise | 7 Comments »

we are going on cruise in october to the carribean for our anniversary, we have been given the choice of anytime dining or traditional dining at 6.15 or 8.15. which is best? will we miss shows if we go for the late dinner how long does it usually take to eat.

First, you will NOT miss any shows because of dinner unless you just sit around and do not pay attention. Cruise ships typically run all shows twice each evening. Once for late seating (8:15 PM) people before dinner AND then again for early seating people (6:00 PM) after dinner. People who do the anytime dining can go to whichever show is most convenient for them.

So there are really three things to consider; what time you you want and normally eat dinner, do you prefer to go to the show before dinner or after and will you be too tired from a day of activities to go to a show that starts at 9:00 PM. The third thing is when you select a traditional seating you will have the same table and wait staff each evening for dinner; and you can ask for a table for two if you want it. If you select the anytime dining you go to the main dining room and get assigned to a table when one is available (yes you may have to wait if other go at the same times) and you probably will not get the same wait staff each evening. You can request a table for two with anytime and sometimes you can get the same wait staff if you ask. But it’s not assured.

Normally the dinner meal service takes about 45 minutes to an hour; more if you are at a large table of 8 to 10 people. You will be offered a 5 course meal and coffee afterward so you can eat leisurely, OR, you can tell the waiter that you want quick service as you have a show to make or whatever and they will serve you faster. And remember, if you want on any day you can skip the main dining room and just go to the buffet for dinner. Most ships will have the dinner menu for the main dining room posted outside the dining room starting about noon. So you can go see what will be served and decide whether you want the buffet or main dining room.

With Traditional dining on a Princess Cruise, can you still go to Anytime Dining if schedule is off?

Posted by admin on April 9th, 2011 and filed under princess cruise | 3 Comments »

The only down-side to traditional dining is when there is a scheduling conflict. Can the ship prevent you from going to an Anytime Dining restaurant on those nights?

No one does any kind of check when entering anytime dining. They are in different dining rooms with exactly the same menu.
